VIT Race and Tyre Services was founded in the Netherlands in 1987 to support the then current Formula Opel – Formula Vauxhall series, providing Bridgestone tyres and engineering services across Europe. In addition the company was involved in the Vortex Formula 3000 team and was briefly active in Formula 1 with the March racing team. In 1999 the company moved to Hamont-Achel in Belgium and recently to a new location in Pelt, Belgium.
After the Formula Opel/Formula Vauxhall series was withdrawn in 2001, and a short period with the Formula Chrysler championship, VIT RTS switched from modern to historic motor racing. After Bridgestone pulled out of the European motorsports, they then joined forces with Avon Motorsports, initially only for FF2000 and FF1600 racing car series. However, this was gradually expanded. In 2024 the Hoosier brand of racing tyres was added to the portfolio. Together with the NOVA Motorsports range VIT Race and Tyre Services now supplies any type of racing tyre, ranging from touring cars and formula racing, to rallycross, endurance, hill climb and oval racing.
VIT Race and Tyre Services is a regular service partner for the HRA (Historic Racecar Association), HMR (Historic Monoposto Racing) and Roadbook, the organiser of Spa Summer Classic, Spa 6 Hours and Super Spa.
VIT RTS has stayed loyal to its Formula Opel roots and still supplies parts and components for these cars, as well as the later Reynard FF2000 and FF1600 cars and Formula König.
Further, as of 2026, VIT RTS has a permanent spot at the Eurocircuit in Valkenswaard (Netherlands), the Glosso Circuit in Arendonk (Belgium), Duivelsberg Circuit in Maasmechelen (Belgium), RX and they will be present at all NLRX and BRX events with the new dedicated service unit.
